Appearance: Genya is described as a gorgeous Grisha with long, wavy, and fiery deep auburn hair. In the show, her eyes are pale blue, almost gray at times, and she has flawless, pale skin that she keeps perfect with her ability. It has even been stated before that she has been working on herself since she was three.
Personality: Genya is capable of reading people and understands how the social structure in her environment works. (wiki)
Genya is a very curious, intelligent woman who pays attention to everything around her. She understands how to navigate a difficult situation, how to act a certain way around different people, and how to manipulate them if she needs to.
She is also capable of being duplicitous as she is essentially working as a spy for General Kirigan who 'gifted' her to the Queen at a young age. She shows a strong sense of loyalty to him despite the fact that he is responsible for her being left in a vulnerable position, living both as a servant to the Queen who lets the King abuse her and as a Grisha without a color which essentially makes her the lowest of their kind despite her being considered rare power wise. Also, despite her growing friendship with and her fondness for Alina, she does 'betray' the other woman by keeping the letters she writes to Mal and reporting everything back to Kirigan. She is conflicted by her actions but, as she says to Alina, she doesn't have the luxury of choosing friendship over survival.
That doesn't mean she isn't capable of genuinely caring about someone, which she does about Alina and a couple of other of her friends. She often shows a warm, caring, and playful side. She likes to joke and even show a bit of sass when in the right mood.
She can be very focused, she pays attention to details and she is drawn to beauty. She knows what looks good and she works to achieve it. She is perhaps even a tiny bit vain which makes sense with her ability and the fact that she can alter how someone looks.
While she easily shows affection to Alina, she does get very quiet and almost shy around someone that she is attracted to or likes. We see this when she interacts with David, her love interest in the show, as she often stays quiet around him. Alina notices it right away too as she points out that Genya never compliments anyone to their face but she does so with David on something he creates. Having it pointed out to her causes Genya to get flustered and she demands that Alina says not one word about it.
But it might still be hard for her to get close to someone considering the abuse she suffers at the hands of the King. At least, until she gets her vengeance by poisoning him and escaping.
What did they do to end up here?: Genya plotted against people, poisoned someone (he deserved it), and 'betrayed' her friend.
Powers / Abilities: Genya is a Tailor. Tailors can do many different things such as alter and change someone's features, remove blemishes and use different items to help them apply different effects.
